Principal’s Letter
Today was a beautiful fall day. Our preschool families spent the day together frolicking around Swan Trails Farm, taking a hayride, picking out pumpkins, seeing the farm animals and playing on the farm playground. Our kindergarten students had a special library visit from author (and former St. John parent) Dan Branley. He introduced the students to his book, Bad Day, Sunshine and shared how simple acts of kindness can completely turn someone’s day around. Thank you, Mr. Branley, for sharing your wonderful story with us!
Tomorrow our students will attend our all-school Mass. We invite you to join us in the church at 9am for this time of community worship. Remember, this is a DRESS UNIFORM day for students. Please send your student to school with the blue St. John fleece or sweatshirt; the gray hoodie is not a part of dress uniform.
Next week is a busy week. Tuesday,10/13, is our Student Portrait Day. All students will be photographed and online ordering will be available after picture day. Students may wear portrait ready, school-appropriate attire. On Thursday, we will participate in the Great Shake Out. This annual event is a perfect opportunity for us to practice our safety procedures. Look for more information about this, and other safety updates, in next week’s Newsviews. Trimester 1 Progress Reports will go home with students in grades 2-8 Thursday afternoon. These mid-trimester reports will be discussed at your Family/Teacher conferences the following week. If you have not yet signed up for these important conferences, you will find the sign-up link here. These conferences are an integral part of the school/family partnership, and we ask that you would make it a priority to attend. If you are choosing to vacation during dedicated conference dates, please do not ask teachers to meet with you outside the designated dates. And, finally, we will cap off this busy week with a fan-favorite: Oktoberfest! Sunday is the last day to purchase tickets. If you are unable to attend but still wish to donate to the school’s endowment fund, you can find more information on the school website Giving page.
In CYO news, shout out to our Cross Country team, which placed third overall in the championship meet. Fourth grade girls took first place in their division – well done, Eagles! Good luck to all our CYO soccer teams this weekend and thanks to the parent volunteers leading the practices and matches.
We are rooted in God’s love, called to make a difference,
Principal Mansfield
