Principal’s Letter

Yesterday we gathered for Ash Wednesday Mass; it was wonderful to see many of our families and parishioners in attendance as we celebrated the beginning of Lent together. During this Lenten season, there will be several opportunities for us to gather together for prayer and fellowship. In addition to our Friday afternoon Stations of the Cross services, we would also like to invite you to join second-grade teacher, Telia Oines, for Family Adoration on Thursdays, 3-4pm, during Lent. You can come pray for 5 minutes or the whole hour. Thank you, Mrs. Oines, for leading our families in this special time of prayer.
There are less than two weeks left to secure your tickets to the hottest event in town – the St. John Auction! The auction team has been hard at work ensuring this event is, not only a fantastic party, but a successful fundraiser, and we cannot do it without you. We have sold 325 tickets, and I would love to see us hit the 400 mark – the ship is about to leave the dock, and you don’t want to be left behind; purchase your tickets here!
We are excited to present our Middle School Musical production of Annie Jr. the weekend of March 14. Students will have an opportunity for a sneak preview during the dress rehearsal, next Thursday, March 13 at 1:30pm. Annie Jr. is a fantastic show, and we are excited to share it with our community, but we also want to acknowledge that the subject matter of adoption and orphanages may impact some of our students and families, in different ways. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or email me, if you would prefer your student not attend the dress rehearsal.
Tomorrow marks the end of Trimester 2, and I cannot believe I am two-thirds of the way through my first year as Principal. I look forward to leading our teachers through a time of prayer, reflection, and fellowship during our Lenten retreat, tomorrow, March 7. (Recall school will not be in session tomorrow and XDC is also closed.) As a community we will use this Lenten season as a time to slow down and focus on what really matters, loving God and loving our neighbor.
We are all God’s masterpieces, and we all have work to do,
Principal Mansfield
