Principal’s Letter

Welcome to the final Newsviews of the 2025-2026 academic year. As I reflect back on this year, I am filled with gratitude. St. John is a special community because of all of you! Thank you for the many ways you show up and care for one another. Time and time again, we have seen instances of members of our community spreading ripples of compassion, care, kindness, and empathy – caring for the marginalized, disenfranchised, and those in need. You continually live out the values of our mission: to be a welcoming Catholic community that celebrates diversity, inspires moral development, and acts for the common good.

Join us in the church at 9am tomorrow as we gather together to celebrate our final community mass of the school year, followed by a 10:30am dismissal. This is a Dress Uniform day for all students.

As we look ahead to summer, we have a staffing update to share. After many years of dedicated service as our XDC Director, Rachelle Overby will be transitioning into a new role within our preschool program. We are grateful for the care, leadership, and commitment she has brought to our extended care community, and we are excited that she will continue to be part of St. John School in this new capacity.

We are also pleased to welcome Danika Desclos as our incoming XDC Director. Danika will serve alongside Rachelle this summer to ensure a smooth transition before taking the helm in September. Like Rachelle, Danika’s roots at St. John run deep. Her connection to our community began at birth, as her mother taught at St. John for more than 30 years. Danika is a St. John alumna, and all six of her children have attended our school as well. We are thrilled to welcome her to our staff and look forward to the experience, dedication, and love for St. John that she brings to this role.

Great news – the new St. John Spirit Gear Store is open June 9-23!  Show your Eagle pride with a wide variety of spirit wear and accessories! Please note that spirit gear is NOT part of the school uniform. Check out all the fun new swag here.

One last reminder before the end of the school year: create those PowerSchool parent accounts now. The PowerSchool Parent Portal will be inaccessible June 20-August 28.

A special thank you to our incredible teachers and all of the St. John staff. Your willingness to go above and beyond for our students is a testament to your love for your craft and this community. We would not be the thriving school we are today without you. Thank you!
