Parish News

St. John Book Club

Sunday, January 28 at 7pm, at the home of Diana Gruscynski. We are reading Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis. In addition to the book you might find these links helpful:

  • Peter Kreeft talks about it at length here and here.
  • Word on Fire has an article on it here.

We also recommend reading the story of Cupid and Psyche, which is in the last pages of the book. Note the change in venue. Please contact Diana G. at diana.grusczynski@outlook.com for more information.

Calling All Volunteers!

Did you know that volunteering in the Parish counts towards your volunteer hours? There are so many ways to be involved! See below for current Parish opportunities.

Money Counting Ministry is Looking for Volunteers: St. John Parish is looking for a couple of volunteers to help with our Money Counting Ministry. This is a great volunteer opportunity for school parents. Just drop off the kids and come on over. We provide all the training. We count on Monday mornings at 9am, and it takes an hour and a half to two hours. We are trying to get enough volunteers so that we can have two teams that only need to count twice a month. Contact Sheila Marty at smarty@stjohnsea.org for more information or to volunteer.

Ministers of the Cup Needed: Are you glad the Precious Blood is back? We can only continue offering the Cup if we have enough Eucharistic ministers! If you are feeling called, please contact the Parish Office at 206-782-2810.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word: Volunteers are still needed, and this could be a great opportunity for high school service hours. If you are interested in helping with this ministry contact Daniel Pelfrey at CEFF@stjohnsea.org.
