Preparing for Accreditation Renewal

Dear Families,

Next week, Tuesday, September 29, at 7pm in Egan Hall, we have the Stakeholders meeting in preparation for our Western Catholic Education Association accreditation renewal. It is most important that you attend.  We want your input as we formulate expectations for our graduates. What do we expect our students to be able to know, to do, to value, and to understand when they graduate from St. John?  The answer is so much bigger, broader and richer than simply academic excellence! You are our partners in the education of your children.  Come, join the discussion, and help us ensure that our Mission Statement and our Student Learning Expectations reflect our Catholic identity and our commitment to student achievement.
Thank you all so very much for your support of the Jog-a-thon. I am grateful to Señor Pablo and his team for their fantastic organization and planning! What a day we all had! Thus far we have raised over $62,000!! Remember, the final turn-in day to be eligible for the trampoline raffle is October 1. The raffle and the Silly String Show Down will be on October 9. Students may also wear free dress on October 9, to celebrate the achievement of our fundraising goal. Thank you, Julie Skinner and Parent Association for the Welcome Back Party & Carnival. I enjoyed a delicious dinner, interesting conversation and fun as I mingled with young and older!
The next great party will be the Purple & Gold Event on October 16. We will celebrate 25 Years of Fair Share and delicious food from Tom Douglas at the Palace Ballroom. This is a “cocktail party” style event with a DJ and dancing–a great opportunity to connect with your community and support the endowment. Register here and join the fun. Remember that next week, Thursday, October 1 we dismiss at noon; school will not be in session Friday, October 2 (Teacher Excellence Day).  Extended Day Care is open.

Sincerely,

Bernadette O’Leary
