Happy Halloween!

The reports from teachers and the happy faces of students and parents indicate that conferences are positive and progressing well. Thank you for taking the time to attend these important meetings.

During November we are called to remember in a special way “our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection” (Eucharistic Prayer). This Sunday, November 1st, marks the Solemnity of All Saints and Monday, November 2nd all students will attend Mass to mark the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls’ Day). Fr. Crispin passed out cards in the parish and the teachers gave cards to the students on which you may write the names of your family members and friends who have gone to their eternal rest.  This little act of writing the names on the cards opens a great opportunity to remember our loved ones and to talk about them with the children.  In this way we keep them alive in our hearts!

We also keep alive the memories and the examples of the saints through the month of November.  The students will be discussing the virtue of humility: How we accept our limitations and use our God-given talents.  Primary Department will learn about St. John the Baptist, Intermediate will learn about St. Pio of Pietrelcina and Middle School will focus on St. Therese of Lisieux.   Miss Feeney constantly reminds that we are all saints in training, so point out to your children all the good acts of the people around them and how we all continue God’s work on earth.

Enjoy a safe and Happy Halloween!  Remember that you can donate your left over candy to Operation Gratitude (USO) at all Masses during the weekend of November 7th and 8th when we will pray for Veterans. That weekend you can also donate used clothing and household items to St.Vincent De Paul when the truck will be here.

Beannacht,
