Congratulations to the Class of 2016!

Dear Families,

This evening, the Class of 2016 will graduate from St. John School and commence their journey to high school. We send them forth with hope and faith that they will carry on the mission to use their knowledge, gifts, and experiences for the common good.

Speaking of going forth, we were just informed that Mrs. Sally Edwins, middle school language arts and literature teacher, has accepted a new job with a technology start-up. She starts in early July. We thank her for four great years and wish her the very best. We also again say goodbye and best of luck to Ms. Kim Macaulay, Ms. Jeanette Whiting and Ms. Maria Tsagalakis.

The teachers have been sharing mastery test results with me and it is so gratifying to see the growth in our learners. I love comparing the beginning of the year writing samples with those the students are producing now. I am so grateful to our teachers who are on the front lines, creating lessons and experiences that lead the students to find joy in learning. They are hard-working, caring, patient, creative, dedicated and committed.

Thank you all for sharing your gifts and your time with us at St. John School and Parish. You supervise at recesses, tutor students and teach art in the classrooms, coach at sports events, help at fundraisers, participate on Parent Association and School Commission, on the auction teams and the jog-a-thon teams. You help us run clubs and you make field trips possible. You are our partners. This summer we look forward to the work starting on Crispin’s Kitchen and to the completion of the landscaping outside Egan Hall. You made that possible! Some of you attended the Discovery Workshops during which we collaborated and shared thoughts for the future of our facilities. You may be wondering about next steps.  You will find an update on this process as you go through this week’s NewsViews. Together, we can achieve so much.

God Bless, may you travel many roads and enjoy wonderful adventures over the summer.

Bernadette
