Science Fair and Time for Prayer

Come to the Science Fair in Egan Hall this evening, 7-8:30pm and meet the young scientists and engineers.  The students have been experimenting and designing for the past few months and are eager to present their results.  See you this evening.

When I visited the budding scientists in first grade they were finishing off their Ocean studies with an experiment on the salinity of water. The fifth grade students celebrated the end of their studies on nutrition with a healthy luncheon.  They prepared and brought in mouthwatering meals and informed me and their audience about the calorie content and the benefits of the various ingredients.

The sixth graders have brightened up the hallways with their haikus about spring. They are ahead of the game for literacy night. The PA has announced the Haiku Contest.  See the rules attached.

Students in grades 2 – 8 are receiving the sacrament of reconciliation in preparation for Easter this week.  Mrs. Mansfield’s third grade students and Ms. Sullivan’s sixth graders will lead the stations on Friday at 2:30. You are welcome to join us.

During Lent, we try to make more time for prayer and good works, often by giving something up. This Lent the Catholic schools of the North Seattle region (about 12 schools!) are encouraging students and their parents to ‘unplug’ for about twenty-four hours and tune into Jesus instead on Holy Thursday night and Good Friday, April 13, and 14.  Let’s plan to ‘fast’ from our computers and phones, turn down the lights and give more time to the voice and light of the Lord.  See the attached flyer.  We will remind you again as Holy Thursday draws near.

Another opportunity for families to have a day out and spend some extra time in prayer is during the Camino de Seattle on Saturday, April 8, the day before Palm Sunday. See below for more details and to register for this inspirational experience.

Blessings,
