Lent and Remodeling

Fr. Crispin was so delighted with the participation of the students at Mass on Ash Wednesday and I agree with him. They were so engaged as they sang and responded.  Fr. Crispin reminded us of the pillars of Lent – prayer, fasting and alms-giving.  In class, the students have been discussing ways that they can make Lent meaningful for them as individuals and as a class. What can you do as a family?

It seems fitting to begin remodeling in Lent as we think about ‘remodeling’ our souls! As you learned at last week’s State of the School presentation, remodeling has begun on the former rectory space. You will notice fencing around the work area, construction vehicles accessing the neighborhood, and a dumpster to be staged on 79th Street. Please read on below for details of how we are moving forward.

Congratulations Zola R., St. John School Spelling Bee Champion for the 2018-2019 school year!  We thought the final rounds would go on forever as she and runner-up Samuel B. spelled words that became increasingly difficult over and over again!  We are very proud of all today’s contestants who were brave enough to take the stage and compete in front of their peers!

Tomorrow, the teachers will be on retreat. We will pray for all of you and we hope that you will keep us in your prayers.

God Bless,

Bernadette O’Leary
