September

Although the students are still getting used to the early mornings, they are settling in well. Be sure to check out the bulletin boards when you come to Curriculum Night this evening. Our theme, Be Kind, is a big focus in all the classrooms. Yesterday, the 8th grade went on their retreat. As they faced the challenges of the ropes courses, they gained first–hand experience of the need to support and encourage one another. They will be bringing this message to the student body as they develop and demonstrate their leadership skills throughout the year.

We have so much going on at St. John. Tonight, we will begin Curriculum Night in the church at 7pm. You will be dismissed to the classrooms at 7:25pm. For those families with two children, the teachers will do two 20 minute informational sessions, the first beginning at 7:30pm. The evening will conclude by 8:15pm. Kindergarten parents have a social beforehand at 6pm in room 6. Be kind to your children by attending Curriculum Night and supporting them through the school year.

Be Kind to all our neighbors as you gather for the Welcome Celebration tomorrow evening. It promises to be a grand big party. Walk, carpool, ride your bikes, and if you drive, do not block any driveways! And don’t forget your lawn chairs, blankets, beverages, and sweet treats for the dessert competition. Thank you to all those who have volunteered to help.

Jog-a–thon is coming up fast. I hear many of the children are training at Cross-Country. Thank you to all of you who have reached out to family and friends and sponsored your runners. We are half-way to our goal. You are being kind to the teachers and the programs that the operating budget supports.

On September 22, at the 10:30am Mass, Fr. Crispin will bless the children and their backpacks. Be kind and bring some breakfast food items and snacks in the backpacks that we can share with our neighbors at Broadview Thompson School.

Please remember in your prayers, one of our eighth-grade students, whose mother passed away at the weekend.

Blessings,

Bernadette
