Shelter Ministry Is Changing – Please Get Involved!     Are you interested in helping needy people in our community?  St. John’s Shelter ministry is shifting focus this year, and we need as much input and support as possible!  Please come to our wine-and-cheese gathering Sunday, October 13, at 5:00pm in the mezzanine.  Let’s raise a glass to this incredible ministry and brainstorm ways to carry on helping the most vulnerable people around us.

Letter from Father Crispin Regarding Changes to the Age of Confirmation:

Jambo Rafikis,

The Seattle Archdiocese has now officially decided to lower the age of confirmation to the 7th grade.  This can’t happen immediately, the age has been 16 years old for many years, and we will not leave anyone behind!

As most here know, we have always offered Confirmation classes at St John’s every other year.  Since we had Confirmation here last year, this is our traditional “off” year.

This year, as a service to our community, we reached out to the North Seattle Catholic Youth (NSCY) to provide an additional option for your families. Their classes started October 2nd, but they will make accommodations for new comers, if you can sign up by next week.  Here is the link with information from NSCY.

I want everyone to know that at St John’s:
  • I will welcome all grades 7th to 12th here at St John’s for confirmation, next year, 2020.
  • I will welcome all grades 7th to 12th here at St John’s for confirmation, again in 2022.
  • I always want our angels to return here, you are all part of MY family here.
  • I am praying for the best for all our angels, as we navigate through this transition.

Asante sana for your beautiful angels in our parish & school. We are truly blessed by them daily.

Amani ya Yesu!

(Peace of Jesus!)

Padre Crispin Okoth
