Principal’s Letter

Alleluia! We are in the Liturgical season of Easter. The fifty days from the Sunday of the Resurrection to Pentecost Sunday are marked with faith-filled joy. Jesus has fulfilled His promise. His covenant of love will extend to all peoples for all time. Mary, the mother of Jesus, looks out for us also. On Monday, we will honor her at an all-school mass. Students are asked to bring a flower to place on her altar. This is a dress uniform day for students.

It is hard to believe that a very busy May is fast approaching. Make sure you check the calendar and read the teachers’ messages. Some of our beloved traditions are returning. They may be shorter, smaller versions for now, but they are in-person! We have Grandparents and Special Friends Day for grades K-2, First Communion, and PreK, Kindergarten, and New Families (grades 1-8) Welcome programs. Thank you for helping make this possible for our community by following guidelines and protocols. Together we can.

Speaking of caring for one another, our beloved Catherine Dahlgren, who has looked after and kept safe many of you and now your children on the playground, is moving from the blacktop to the pre-school. We have an opening for the next caring, compassionate ‘Person of the Pertual Asphalt’. Please see the Community News post for more information.

Progress reports went home today! As you look over the report, have a conversation with your child about goals for the remainder of the year. Discuss what has gone well and what are areas for growth. Self-reflection is a great benefit for students.

Thank you to the Parent Association and Jasmine Bradshaw for this evening’s presentation, The First 3 Steps to Becoming an Anti-Racist Family. I am happy that our community is committed to continuing this important conversation. Thank you, too, to the Kindergarten families for the delicious lunch; our teachers and staff enjoyed it tremendously!

Blessings,

Bernadette O’Leary
