Principal’s Letter

Wishing our middle school students the very best as they head out on their various learning and service trips next week. Students in grade 8 will travel to Washington, D.C. Their days will be packed as they visit the Capitol, the Holocaust Memorial Museum, Arlington National Cemetery, the monuments at the National Mall and many more important sites around the area. Seventh-grade students will have a week of service learning, history and civics. The students will tour our state Capitol and the Washington State History Museum. They will serve at L’Arche Farms in Tacoma and the Josephinum in Seattle. Sixth-grade students will be at Camp Hamilton to study environmental science. Thank you to the teachers for their months of preparation and organization and their willingness to be away from their families. Thank you to the chaperones as well; without you all, we could not have field trips.

This evening, we met preschool families, and next week we will have a gathering for kindergarten families and new families in grades 1-8. This is a great opportunity for families and faculty to get to know each other. Later this month, we will also welcome friends and grandparents of students in grades K-2 for Grand Day. In addition to the Welcome Programs and Grand Day, May is full of fun events like class field trips, Jump Rope for Heart and spring concerts, so be sure to read NewsViews and your teacher’s weekly emails.

Some housekeeping items to keep in mind as we head into late May: tickets are now on sale for our annual School’s Out Grill’s Out BBQ. Don’t forget to purchase your tickets now. Tickets will not be available for purchase after May 30. Classic logo wear is on sale at 50% off whiles supplies last, so if you are looking for a sweatshirt, hoodie or t-shirt with the classic logo for your student, check it out. And thank you to the Parish for opening the play pit on the weekends (Saturdays, 11-6pm, and Sundays, 8:30-4:30pm) starting on May 13.

One last important note: we wish Ms. Shaw the very best as she is now on maternity leave. Yesterday, at the primary department Mass, Fr. Crispin blessed her and her soon-to-be-born baby. We wish her well and look forward to meeting baby Shaw!

Blessings,

Bernadette O’Leary
