Principal’s Letter – Thank You!

In the words of Sesame Street, today’s installment of NewsViews is brought to you by the letter “G,” for GRATITUDE. Last Friday’s Jog-A-Thon was a tremendous success! Thank you to our entire Jog-A-Thon team and all our volunteers who helped set up, clean up, tally laps, pass out snacks, and run the sound system. A huge shout-out to all of you, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends who came to cheer on our students; collectively we ran over 1,000 miles. And thanks to your generous giving, we have surpassed our $100,000 fundraising goal. You are amazing and appreciated.

Thank you to the many families attending our K-5 curriculum night this evening. Our teachers have worked hard decorating our hallways, displaying work in the classroom and creating informative presentations so you can learn more about your student’s curricular experiences – thank you, teachers!

I want to invite you to join us for a special event: author and acclaimed bullying expert, Jodee Blanco will be on campus Monday, October 7. During the day she will present to our students in grades K-4, students in grades 5-8 and our faculty. That evening, at 7pm in the church, we will be hosting a special parent presentation; come and hear her common language and ways we can work together to instill values of kindness and empathy and empower our students to act with courage for the common good.

We are pleased to announce that our own Ryan Roach has accepted the position of Facilities Supervisor for St. John Parish and School. Ryan graduated from St. John School in 1988, then went to Blanchet High School and North Seattle Community College. He joined the maintenance team in 1990. We are blessed to have filled this position with someone who has such a depth of knowledge and love for St. John.

I wish all our cross-country runners and soccer players much success this weekend. Thank you coaches and volunteers. #Goeagles.

Blessings,

Abby Mansfield
