Principal’s Letter
Tomorrow is Jog-a-thon celebration day. Thanks to the efforts of our students and your generous financial gifts, we exceeded our goals: running over 1,000 miles and raising over $107,000. Students will start their day with the Jog-a-thon celebration assembly, where top fundraiser, Julian W., will draw the name of our Spring Free Trampoline raffle recipient. All students will participate in Cash-Grabbing-Gecko, the classes who ran the most laps/miles will be enjoying movie and popcorn parties, and the top fundraising grade, our 8th graders, will punish the principals during our annual Silly String Showdown. Thank you to the entire Jog-a-thon team and all the volunteers helping out tomorrow. It is going to be a wonderful day, celebrating the tremendous efforts of our community. This is a free dress day for all students; check the Family Handbook for our non-school uniform dress day policies.
While the students are celebrating in the gym, you are invited to Egan Hall for our second Parent Association meeting of the year. These meetings are a great time to connect with one another and learn more about all the happenings here at St. John. Thank you, PA chairs, Maile and Stephanie, for your leadership.
The Teacher Conferences sign-up went live last week. If you haven’t had a chance to sign up, you still have time; sign ups will be available until October 20. These conferences are a vital way teachers partner with you in helping ensure your student thrives during their time at St. John – thank you for making them a priority.
Dust off those lederhosen and enjoy an evening of games, beverages, small bites and lots of laughter. Oktoberfest is just a week away. Come join the fun and raise money for St. John School. Funds donated at Oktoberfest will help repair the aging and broken tiles around the school entry and flagpole. Help us re-pave the way for our students and families at St. John School. Get your tickets here and be sure to check-out the volunteer sign-up – we still have lots of open slots to fill. Thank you, PA chairs, Director of Development, Jonna Skokan, and Event Support Coordinator, Cara Wakefield, for all the work you are putting in to ensure this evening is a success.
The St. John community is built on the model of fair share – time and time again, you show up for one another. It is a privilege to lead such a caring, generous community.
We all have something the world needs,
Principal Mansfield
