Special Events

St. John Catholic School is known for its wonderful community, and special events throughout the year celebrate our shared values. Listed below are some of our most cherished events. Information about each special event will be posted on the website and announced through NewsViews.

Note:  Due to Covid-19, special events have been canceled or re-imagined.  Updates will be posted on the website and shared through NewsViews.

Back to School BBQ     We welcome the new school year with an all-school barbeque! St. John families are invited to an evening of food and fun. The school provides food and beverages, volunteers provide activities for the children, and the Dessert Competition provides sweet treats. It’s a lively, exuberant way to kick-off the new year!

St. John Families Helping the Homeless     An integral part of our mission is the “courage to act for the common good.” One of the many events that help our students engage and support their neighbors is the St. John Families Helping the Homeless event. Students in fourth grade sponsor a drive for supplies that are used to build care kits for the homeless in our community. The drive culminates in an event wherein families are invited to make care kits from the donated supplies.

Christmas Programs     St. John PreK, primary and intermediate students invite their friends and families to celebrate the season with music and cheer. Three concerts (PreK and Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2, and Grades, 3-5) are held the week before the Christmas Holiday break. You will certainly get in the holiday spirit when you hear our angels belting out Christmas carols!

All School Winter Open House     The All School Winter Open House kicks off Catholic Schools Week. Families, prospective and returning, are invited to tour the school. Parents and guardians have the opportunity to talk with teachers, visit the classrooms and explore the projects and activities that students are working on; truly, learning in action!

Grandparents and Special Friends Day     Students in PreK through grade 5 treat their grandparents and special friends to desserts and a short concert. It’s a sweet way for our students and community to thank their grandparents and special friends for their continued support and generosity.

Stations of the Cross     Every year, as we prepare for Easter, we invite the St. John community to join us in our Lenten journey. An important part of the journey is the Stations of the Cross. Presented by different grades during Lent, the Stations of the Cross help us pray and reflect on the last hours of Jesus Christ and prepare for the glory of His resurrection.

School’s Out, Grill’s Out     A wonderful year-end community event, families come together for a last all-school barbeque to celebrate a rewarding school year, a great summer holiday ahead, and bright and shining future!
