From the Parish

  • Please join us for Book Club.  We will be reading Bearing False Witness: Debunking Centuries of Anti-Catholic History by Rodney Stark. He is one of the “most highly regarded sociologists of religion and argues that some of our most firmly held ideas about history, ideas that paint the Catholic Church in the least positive light are, in fact, fiction. In each chapter, Stark takes on a well-established anti-Catholic myth, gives a fascinating history of how each myth became the conventional wisdom, and presents a startling picture of the real truth.” Book Club is open to everyone even if you didn’t finish the book. We also embrace all forms of media including audiobooks and movies, so please join us in March (date TBD).
  • North Seattle Catholic Youth    On February 24, at St. Catherine Parish, N Seattle Catholic Youth will offer a sexual abuse prevention course to your youth. In our efforts to protect our vulnerable population, the Archdiocese of Seattle has integrated abuse prevention material into our faith formation and youth ministry curriculum in the context of teaching our youth about our Catholic faith. To help you understand what your youth will be offered, we ask you to visit the Faith Formation site and review the “Parent/Guardian Resources,” to become informed about the curriculum being used while also making available the actual lessons. As the guardian, you have the right to opt your child/youth out of this lesson. You will need to inform your Catechetical Leader.
