Principal’s Letter

St. John community, we did it! Thanks to the generosity of our community, we reached our Jog-a-thon goal, with over $103,000 raised for our school. What a grand way to kick off our 100 years! And the celebrations don’t end here; please join us at the Endowment event on October 22 in Egan Hall, where we will celebrate 100 years of St. John and Michele Thornquist, who was instrumental in building our endowment. Invest in your children’s academic foundation and keep our vibrant, community-centered school operating for the next 100 years!

The partnership between parents and teachers is one of the reasons that make St. John special. With this in mind, we ask parents, particularly of primary and intermediate students, to keep their students’ smartwatches at home. Smartwatches are proving to be extremely disruptive to your child’s learning and the class environment as a whole. To maintain the integrity of your child’s learning experience and academic growth, smartwatches will be collected at the beginning of the school day and will be returned upon dismissal.

It is warm and sunny again today, and sweatshirts and jackets have been taken off at recess and left on the playground. Please check the lost and found. We have collected several school sweatshirts that were left behind. On the other hand, with the first drops of rain yesterday, it is a good reminder that your student should arrive with a coat suitable for the weather and sturdy shoes. Barring severely inclement weather – rain doesn’t count – students will be outside for recess. Umbrellas for students are not allowed during recess. We are still in need of a Playground Supervisor. Please contact Principal O’Leary if you are interested.

Love one another. Walk in the Light!
