Principal’s Letter

As the year draws to a close, I find myself evaluating how well we met the Schoolwide Learning Expectations (SLEs) and lived out the mission. Yesterday provided a perfect summary. Fr. Crispin lauded the second graders who participated actively in the Mass and prayed with intention and reverence. He then led a blessing with eighth graders at the Martina Apartments’ first anniversary celebration, where, as seventh graders, these empowered disciples helped with the opening of this Catholic Community Services housing. The current seventh-grade students visited the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to learn about service on a global scale. At the local level, the third-grade Girl Scouts troop made lunches of love for our St. Vincent de Paul ministry. The first graders were active learners as they shared their Habitat Projects, and the preschool visited habitats onsite at the zoo! We are Christ-centered, active learners and empowered disciples. And our graduates carry their lessons with them. Alumna Maddy Ewing ’23 received the Senior Service Award at Holy Names Academy. This award honors students who consistently offer service from the heart to others at HNA and in the community.

School might almost be out, but we don’t go on vacation from Mass! Plan to make attendance at Mass a priority this summer. Eucharist is another word for gratitude, and we have so much for which to be grateful – our faith, our families, a great school year, volunteers, teachers, Fr. Crispin, delicious school lunches and our friends. I could go on, but I want you to read the rest of this message!

This evening, students in Band, Cantionis and fifth grade delighted us with their music presentations. Bravo, Mrs. Villanueva, Mr. White and students. I look forward to an intermediate band and a new class of beginning band next year! Play on, students.

See you at the BBQ tomorrow night! Even though we have another week and a bit to go, we will begin the countdown at the School’s Out Grill’s Out BBQ. Thank you to Ethan Stowell Restaurants, Fremont Brewery, Fremont Dock Company, Nutty Squirrel Gelato, Chef Michael, the Kitchen Crew, Karen Bombino, the Maintenance team and all the volunteers for helping to make the year-end BBQ a wonderful celebration. Thank you for purchasing tickets before the 5/30 deadline. No tickets will be available for purchase at the “door.” We are expecting a large turnout. Please consider carpooling, ride share, walking or biking tomorrow evening. If you do plan to drive, please don’t block neighbors’ driveways!

If you can, come and cheer our athletes at the CYO Track and Field Championships this Saturday. More information can be found on the CYO post in this NewsViews.

Soar on, Eagles!
