Principal’s Letter

Advent begins on Sunday. We, parents, have all experienced our own advent – the months leading up to the births of our children. We know the emotions this time brings: excitement, preparation, fear, joy and hope! The liturgical season of Advent is just like that; it is a time to “Be watchful! Be alert!” Jesus is coming into our lives, and we must get our spiritual homes in order. It is the time to slow down – yes, really slow down – during some of the busiest weeks of the year and examine our relationship with God. Linger a while in His unconditional love for us. Give your children the gift of celebrating the Eucharist this Advent season. Make a special effort to attend Mass each weekend during Advent, and this Sunday, the parish is hosting an Advent wreath-making event after the 10:30am Mass.

At school, we will light the Advent candle, pray and sing together. On Monday morning, we will gather the entire school and go directly from the playground to the church at 8:15am for a short prayer service. On Tuesday through Friday, the students will gather and pray in departments. Mrs. Villanueva and band leader, Mr. White, are also busy preparing the Christmas programs. Keep an eye on the calendar!

The first-trimester report cards were sent home with the children today.  Be sure to check their backpacks if they don’t proudly present them to you! Celebrate your children’s achievements and discuss areas that may need deeper focus. This is a great time to set goals for trimester two.

Remember–due to a funeral and reception in Egan Hall tomorrow, there is no hot lunch service. Please send a lunch with your child. I will see you at Mass this Advent.

Remember to do all your work in love,

Bernadette O’Leary
