We received very exciting news this week!
I am proud to announce the selection of Sarah Gudaitis, Kristine Kelley, and Sven Tice as Fellows in the 2018 cohort of the Trustey Family STEM Teaching Fellows. Our teachers represent one of 10 schools in the program’s fourth cohort and will join over 90 teachers from the program’s first three cohorts.
The Trustey Family STEM Teaching Fellows is sponsored by the University of Notre Dame Center for STEM Education, housed in the Institute for Educational Initiatives at the University of Notre Dame. The Center for STEM Education’s mission seeks to help all students, especially those underserved and in Catholic schools, engage and excel in the STEM disciplines through research and the translation of research into practice.
The Trustey Family STEM Teaching Fellows is a competitive, three summer, two school year program. Fellows will attend three Summer Institutes at the University of Notre Dame, beginning in July 2018. Throughout the school year they will receive content specific coaching for their instructional practice and targeted support as they expand access to and opportunities for STEM learning here at St. John School.
I am so grateful to the teachers for taking the time to submit their applications and attend the online interviews! Congratulations to Miss Gudaitis, Ms. Kelley and Mr. Tice for being awarded this prestigious University of Notre Dame STEM Trustey Fellows opportunity to expand their teaching expertise and share it with the students of St. John School. Your children will be the beneficiaries of their hard work and enthusiasm!
A big shout-out also to the preschool students, their teachers and the XDC teachers for their flexibility as they moved to the transitional spaces. Work has begun on the renovation of Quigley House. Please be aware that the breezeway access from 80th Street between Quigley and the playground, will be closed at all times. You may enter on foot through the parking lot gate on 80th Street for morning arrival and afternoon dismissal.
